About the Author

Welcome all to MeruGear.nl! Since you’re on this page, I assume you’ve taken an interest in to who’s running this joint, and want to know more about him. Well… That’s fortunate, since I (the author) have just jotted down a small story about who I am and what I do. Enjoy!

The Student

scientistavans.jpg

My name is Vincent, and I’m currently a student at the AVANS Part-time Academy for Small Business and Retail Management in  Breda (that’s the Netherlands for ya!). On that wonderful (*cough*) little academy, I’m in my 3rd year of a study named Global World Domination International Business and Languages Small Business and Retail Management. It’s of course a very… Small and… er… Retaily study that handles… BusinessAnd Management… ¿Amazing, isn’t it?

The Hobby’s

Apart from being a full-time college student I tend to have the habit to create or manipulate stuff. Yes, that sounds very ominous, but what I mean is that I can be quite creative for a ‘game-nerd’ as some might call me. One day I’m working to create a website, the other I am writing poetry or a short story… And sometimes I combine both… and I treat you people on a little blog entry here ;) .

I’m quite the reading type, and I prefer to read English literature. Mainstream Dutch literature is mainly about how sad people are, and mainly consists of people with either minority complexes or people who were written by people who have minority complexes or vice versa. Dutch literature is all about everyday stuff happening and people making a huuge drama out of it. Kinda like this weblog… But more boring. Main genres I read are Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
(currently reading books from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett and loving it (platonicly))

The Games

Apart from reading, a huge part of my life is/was/will be dedicated to playing videogames.
I am quite the (video)gamer and in possession of many video game consoles. Luck has it, there’s been an actual image of me receiving my very first game console; the Nintendo Game Boy!

Well… that was just the beginning… Currently our household contains the following videogame consoles and handhelds (It’s not showing off! It’s… showing you peeps how much part of my life videogames are! :P )

The Console List

1 Atari 2600
1 Atari 2600 Jr.
2 Phillips CD-I's
1 Phillips In2IT prototype handheld
2 Nintendo Gameboys
1 Nintendo Gameboy Pocket
1 Nintendo Gameboy Color
1 Nintendo Entertainment System
5 Nintendo Gameboy Advance's (I know, overkill :P )
1 Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP Limited Zelda Edition
2 Super Nintendo Entertainment Systems
1 Sega Megadrive II
1 Nintendo 64
2 Nintendo Gamecubes
1 Playstation
2 Playstation 2's
1 Playstation 3
2 Playstation Portable's
2 Nintendo DS's
2 Nintendo DS Lite's
1 Nintendo Wii
1 XBOX
1 X-BOX 360

And with those consoles comes a myriad of videogames of course.

The Armor
On my way of becoming a fully fledged member of the 501st, I’m planning on building myself a stormtrooper armor.
Right now I’ve only got the helmet, but as time and funds progress, I’ll be planning to get myself the full kit.
Stay tuned on this one! It’s a biggie!

But enough about those…

The Reason for MeruGear

So why make a website and use it as a blog? MeruGear is my little personal space on the internet. For me, it’s a way of writing away any frustrations or revelations I encounter while living my little life here. A diary so to say. Though instead of keeping the world from knowing my thoughts on things, I kinda go all-out and post them online for everyone to read. I do it to keep track on things myself as well. I mean, that Event Calendar isn’t just for show… I’d forget vital things if it weren’t for that thing!

Also, I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback on the blog entries, and people seem to enjoy my little ramblings and adventures, so who am I to keep them from a quick chuckle or a relaxed time reading some stories I put up?

I enjoy it, they enjoy it. Doesn’t get any better than that. Well… I could ask admission fees… But that’s cheap :P .

So with that said… I hope you will enjoy reading MeruGear.

Take care, and be safe!
